Arrivederci, Meta

Hello and welcome. You may be reading this as a result of seeing my final post on Facebook, but even if that’s not what brought you here, this post may be of interest to you, whether you are a Facebook user or not.

As I mentioned in my final Facebook post, I am permanently deleting my Facebook page.

There are a number of reasons for this, and I have had the matter under consideration for some time now. The bottom line is that I just don’t trust Facebook - with anything. Not my user data, not my intellectual property… nothing. Between data breaches, allegations that the company is clandestinely training their AI using the copyrighted IP of their users, and algorithms that often seem built to promote what the company wants you to see, not to mention a maddeningly obtuse user interface, I’ve simply had enough.

So, from here on out, this website is the only place I’ll be directly posting previews of new work and/or news about upcoming events. If you would like to be kept informed, then I invite you to sign up for my email newsletter. For now, this will only be something I send out when there is some news to report, so it will be intermittent and unpredictable. It’s free, I won’t be spamming your inbox, and I won’t be selling or trading any of your private information either. And best of all, I don’t have to depend on some fickle and feckless algorithm to decide whether you’ll see my posts.

My work may still appear on the social media pages of my gallery representatives, which is as it should be. They’re just doing their job marketing it. I just won’t be maintaining any social media accounts myself.

Thanks for reading and watch this space.
